See Brook Farm Inn on “BettyConfidential.com”

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

We’re delighted that Brook Farm Inn is mentioned by Francine Segan on this terrific website magazine in an article entitled “Summer Breakfasts — Perfect for a Sunday Brunch.”  http://www.bettyconfidential.com/cbc/food-home.html  Francine is a food historian and cookbook author who’s written about us in the past.  She is also a noted presenter, who was at Shakespeare & Co. last night, and our guests who attended raved about her.  We’ve enjoyed Francine’s presentations about food and movies, and also food in Shakespeare’s time. We highly recommend her cookbooks!

At Brook Farm Inn, we know that  Church Street Cafe, in Lenox Massachusetts,  is among our guests’ favorite restaurants.  Tonight it will open for the season.  So check out the menu at www.churchstreetcafe.biz.   And when you stay with us, we’ll be glad to arrange dinner reservations for you at the restaurant.

Lunch At Wheatleigh

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Wheatleigh is one of the premier hotels in the Berkshires.  Located in Lenox, Massachusetts, it’s a sophisticated country house  hotel, with a 5-star gourmet restaurant.  We were pleased to receive a luncheon invitation today.   The gracious reception by friendly staff members was followed by a delicious and beautifully prepared lunch.  It was served in the Library, looking out at a spectacular Berkshires view. Guests who stayed with us at Brook Farm Inn, and had dinner there last week were equally impressed.  We highly recommend Wheatleigh for a special lunch, dinner — and they offer special event planning for weddings and other celebrations.

Nightlife in the Berkshires This Weekend

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

There’s always something to do in the Berkshires.  Guests of Brook Farm Inn, in Lenox Massachusetts, frequently enjoy a drink, or a meal, or just dessert, at one of the local night spots.  We recommend the Castle Street Cafe for live music. This weekend they’re featuring Dooley Austin on Friday, March 20, and Peg & Bill Delaney on Saturday, March 21st.

There’s also the Lion’s Den, in the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, where top local performers can be see and heard nightly.

Dining Event This Weekend in the Berkshires

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

One of our favorite restaurants is Chez Nous, in Lee, only a 10 minute drive from Brook Farm Inn.  They’re offering a special event this weekend. It’s an opportunity to celebrate what we always love about winter: the wonderful, warming foods and wines that can make you really look forward to a snowy night, seated around the table with friends, savoring the flavors of winter and lingering over it all. They’re hosting Wayne Glazer of Arborway Wines for a special dinner:

“Une Nuit en Hiver”
{A Night in Winter}

Friday, February 27 – 6:30pm
$75 per person

Included is a tasting menu of some favorite winter dishes, expertly paired with wines from Wayne’s portfolio. For a preview of the evening’s menu, click here.

Please call ahead to reserve your table as space is limited.

Lunching In Lenox

Friday, July 25th, 2008

There’s a great new place for lunch in Lenox Massachusetts.  It’s called The Haven, and it’s on Franklin Street, in the heart of the historic district.  It’s centrally located for your visit to the Berkshires. The food is fresh and the presentation is appealing.  The decor is minimal, filled with natural light.  There’s something for everyone on the menu, including dishes with meat, or chicken, or vegetarian.  Luscious baked goods are available with a big mug of delicious coffee or tea. We had a great lunch there yesterday, and we’ll be recommending it to the guests of Brook Farm Inn.

The Mount in Lenox Massachusetts Announces ‘08 Lecture Series

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

A favorite of summer visitors to Brook Farm Inn in Lenox Massachusetts has always been the author lecture series at The Mount, home and gardens of Edith Wharton. Lectures take place on Mondays at 4 PM, starting July 7th, and they’re followed by tea and book-signing. We’re also glad to announce  Wharton on Wednesdays at 5 PM in July and August, which consists of live readings from her works.  Also a wonderful new idea is called Some Enchanted Evenings — wine & hors d’oeuvres on the Mount’s terrace, 5 - 8 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  A great prelude to any summer evening in the Berkshires!

Brook Farm Inn Recipe Receives Raves!

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

I just wanted to let you know how much I (and my friends and co-workers) LOVE the Blueberry Morning Glory!!  I took it to work and after my department devored it, I put it in the breakroom (a great place to empty a dish) and I had 5 requests for the receipe–I am sure there would have been more request but it was gone too fast!

I am serving it tomorrow morning for Father’s Day, I switched the blueberries for cherries–my family happen to be cherry fanatics!

It was so easy and seems so complicated!!  It is wonderful to have access to recipes that make you look like a star!!! ”

This quote is from an email we were delighted to receive. Blueberry Morning Glory is one of our favorite recipes; it’s been published in some cookbooks, such as New England Bed & Breakfast Cookbook , Great Country Inns Cookbook, and also online.  We’re always glad when guests enjoy our breakfast entrees, and are happy to share the recipes. Looking forward to welcoming you to our inn in Lenox Massachusetts. Click on About Us on our website, and you’ll see a link there for Fabulous Food and for Recipes.

Great Concert Coming In May

Lenox Ma: You don’t have to wait for the summer for great concerts in the Berkshires. On Saturday, May 10th, the Aston Magna Foundation http://www.astonmagna.org/astonwinter.html will have a concert featuring music of Purcell and Handel. It will be held at the St. James Church in Great Barrington. This is a really talented group of musicians, and the concert is at 6 PM, so you’ll have time for a leisurely dinner afterwards. Here’s our list of recommended restaurants http://www.brookfarm.com/dining-lenox.html. Hope to see you soon!

Lunch at Firefly

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

We had a great lunch today at Firefly, one of the fine restaurants in Lenox. Firefly has just started serving lunch every day, although it has always been better known for its dinner menu. The lunch - a variety of salads, soups, wraps and their fabulous kettle chips - makes a relaxing break in the middle of a hectic day of sightseeing or shopping in town. Try it, next time you’re here.
