We’re well aware of the news that’s making everyone feel stressed these days, so here’s important information.
In a newspaper article titled “Take a vacation and you may live longer,” Drs. Kay Judge and Maxine Barish-Wreden wrote, “Vacations may lead to decreased heart attacks and longer lives.” That’s right–you will live longer if you take regular vacations. Using data from a Framingham heart study, researchers found that women who took a vacation once every six years or less were almost eight times more likely to develop heart disease or have a heart attack than those who took at least two vacations a year.
“Similarly, a study of more than 700 women between the ages of 45 and 65 revealed that frequent vacations cut the risk of death among all women by half.”
So, for your health and peace of mind, come to Brook Farm Inn in Lenox, Massachusetts. The Berkshires is a great place to unwind.

You can view–and purchase – new works by Marguerite Bride at Museum Facsimiles in Pittsfield. Ms. Bride’s solo exhibit displays her Local Color series. She captures the beauty of the Berkshires in her watercolors, which feature well-known scenes and also unusual and out-of-the-way views. Plus, Museum Facsimiles is a wonderful and unique store, where you’ll be beguiled by art for your home, wearable gifts, and special stationery and cards. We at Brook Farm Inn in Lenox have been customers for a long time.

Callers to Brook Farm Inn in Lenox, Massachusetts are asking about fall foliage — they want to know if the leaves are changing yet. The answer is, a little bit. You can see a few maples with orange leaves at the end of some branches, and even though the days are beautiful and warm, the evenings get cool. So that will bring on more changing colors. Come see the Berkshires for yourself in this beautiful season!

We in the Berkshires are blessed with wonderful professional theater companies, including the Barrington Stage. Co. in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. We were lucky enough to attend a recent performance of Noel Coward’s “Private Lives,” and what a treat! First performed in 1930, this play is still witty and entertaining. It centers on a couple who can’t live with each other, and can’t live without each other. The cast was perfect. We’re sending all our Brook Farm Inn (in Lenox) guests to see it.
